ECO RESPONSABILITY
Discover what we have found to minimize our enviromental impact!
From the beginning, Sustainability has been a core value driving GINGER's mission.
It would seem contradictory for a product designed for outdoor activity, not to respect the environment we interact with.
As a brand passionate about the environment and nature, caring for our surroundings is at the core of who we are. That's why, every day, we strive to consider the environmental impact of our actions and integrate this awareness into everything we do.
One of the materials we work with at GINGER is carbon fiber, currently the ideal material for manufacturing such products. Its durability and strength have made it the star material in cycling, with most high-end components like frames, handlebars, and wheels being made from carbon fiber. This material is also highly valued in industries such as aerospace and sports.
However, carbon fiber production is highly energy-intensive and emits pollutants, and its recycling is complex and costly. At GINGER, we are aware of the environmental impact of carbon fiber, both in its extraction and recycling phases. Despite this, we have found no substitute that offers the same benefits as carbon fiber, prompting us to minimize our environmental footprint through innovative solutions.
Producing in Barcelona, within our own workshop, allows us meticulous control over our production process, including handling production waste. Initially, excess carbon fiber was repurposed for specific tasks in our production chain.
But how could we further close the loop?
This question led to the birth of GINGER Detachables. Like all Detachables, these tools are designed to remove bicycle tires during punctures. They are user-friendly, durable, and suitable for all bike types. Being made from carbon fiber, they are robust and do not damage carbon rims. Above all, they align with GINGER's philosophy as sustainable pieces born from the production of your saddles.
(Re)usable
For context, in less than a year since their inception, if we had been producing Detachables, we would have created 24 units for every 10 saddles produced. Not bad, right?
We recognize that a crucial aspect of material and social sustainability is reducing resource consumption. As we continue to work on this front, we seek proposals that minimize environmental impact and help reduce our carbon footprint.
